Name: Vince Polito
Age: 29
Birthday: 07/12/1981
Country: United States of America
Affiliated Party: Democrats
About Me
Best President: JAMES POLK - Defeated the Mexicans and with his belief in manifest destiny he acquired California, Nevada, and parts of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Colorado and Wyoming and expanded the Union from the Atlantic to Pacific and he did that all in one term.
Worst President: WOODROW WILSON - As a former Klansman Wilson re-segregated the Capitol, which had been integrated under President Grant. He gave us the Federal Reserve Act, the income tax and ultimately led the way to the rise of Hitler and World War II
My #1 Issue: Economic security and Education
Direction For Country: I want to create a nation where its citizens can function in a way that allows them to realize that opportunity is there gretest source of wealth and not the government.
Short Platform

Political extremism involves two prime ingredients: an excessively simple diagnosis of the world's ills, and a conviction that there are identifiable villains back of it all.

-John W. Gardner

More About Me

I'm from Staten Island, New York.  I am a part-time actor (not a starving actor seeking fame & fortune, its just a side gig)and I have appeared in several off-Broadway and Broadway  productions including Rent and most recently Mama Mia. I have been politically active in county politics.  Most of my involvement has been with republican candidates and the republican party. (Staten Island was the only plce in New York City where Republicans were the party in control.  I attended the University of Florida and soon after I joined the group Teach America and devoted my energies to the education of children in areas of our country that maintained communities with a high concentration of underpriveleged children that lacked quality educations.  The experience enabled me to see that a mix of liberal democrat and conservative republican policies actually produce the best chances for our children and the best policies for our nation.

The extremism that politics has centered around these days forced me to reevaluate my party registration and in the end forced me to become a democrat.  I feel democrats offer the greatest chance for moderation.  Even though they also harbor some extreme policies I feel that for the most part they are much more rational than the increasing radicalism seen with republicans.

Generally I will support the right person for the right job.  If that person is a republican than I will support them.  If that person is a democrat then they will have my support.

What I Would Do As President

If our country is ever going to get anywhere we must rid ourselves of this nonstop involvement in political extremism. On one side you have democrats that want to punish people who have been succesful and are wealthy and on the other side you have republicans who refuse to give people who aren't wealthy the assistance they could use.

There has got to be a better way and as a political moderate I want to provide that better way.  That path can taken if we strike the right balance.

TAXES:

One party wants to soak the rich and the other party wants to abandon the poor.

I believe that we have to allow people to pay a tax that is commensurate with their income and so I support eliminating loopholes and abandoning the complex tax code that we have now for a simple and fair tax.  I support a flat tax.  It allows everyone to pay the same percentage in taxes but if you make more you will still pay more and if you make less you will pay less.

FEDERAL BUDGET:

The government is out of control.  Republicans have at times refused to create proper control and regulation while democrats can't stop creating reasons for more controls and more regulations.  Without the right kind of regulations problems are created and it costs the government billions to correct or bailout the problem that a lack of control creates.  With too much control and regulation the government becomes to expensive to run and government oversight increases the cost of its operation and accountability problems arise.

We need to reign in government and if we do we will begin to get the federal budget under control.

We also have to reform the way that spending is approved in Washington.  We must eliminate pork barrel spending by banning the practice of adding non-related spending measures to legislation.
