What I Would Do As President
|
1. Legalize the following: Marijuana: Sure, it kills brain cells but alcohol kills your liver and that's not illegal. Considering other substances that are legal in this country as of now, there is no justifiable reason why weed should not be.
Same-Sex Marriage: I have many gay friends and all of them are good people. If heterosexual couples have the right to get married and be happy then why not homosexual people? And one huge thing I do not understand is how anyone can say that homosexuality is a choice. It is not, and any gay person will tell you that. Do you chose to be straight? I could go on and on about this but I'll move on.
2. Make abortion safe and legal.
Being
a woman myself, i feel I can empathize with other pro-choice females.
What a woman does with her body is her choice and it shouldn't be up to
the government, which mainly consists of men, to take that right away
from her. There are also certain circumstances in which an abortion
would be acceptable, such as rape or incest.
3. Take the troops out of Iraq. Many people are unnecessarily dying because of this unnecessary war. This is wrong. I feel we need to take the troops out of Iraq simply to spare the sanity of the families of these individuals. Not to mention the amount of money being spent on the war effort is outrageous. We need to take this money and spend it on more notable things that are good instead of evil.
4. Increase funding on stem-cell research. 5. Repeal the No Child Left Behind Act. Being a student myself, I have a firsthand account of how this act simply hinders the educational abilities of many students rather than help them to excel. Also, Margaret Spellings, the Secretary of Education and a principle writer of NCLB, possesses a bachelor's degree in political science. She has no educational experience and is therefore underqualified to have any say over anything educational. This like employing a McDonald's manager to engineer a building. Would you want to live in that building?
