The Constitution, Article I, Section 8. seems clear to me, but who knows I could be wrong. "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States".
The Constitution is a way of governing this nation, and the general welfare clause has been debated and debated for years. I always thought it was for the country, because that is what you are defending. I also interpreted the general welfare to be for the nation and not particularly for the individuals, although they would receive the bounty that would come if the nation being taken care of properly. At the time the general welfare of a nation meant that the government would see to it that the highways/roads were in repair so that commerce would be able to take place, the same is true for ports and the postal service. It is like the defense clause. Is every citizen given a soldier to protect them? No that would be foolish and we know it. The general welfare was very important to the new nation, because the Crown did not take care of the colonies like it should have, because it was an expenditure it did not want to lose to a place 3000 miles from the throne of power. It has of late been perverted into a clause for the general welfare of the population, which is absolute folly, because you can’t protect people from themselves and their own foolish mistakes. When you use this clause for the general population you set up a never ending protection racket where you buy the votes of the general population by giving them all of their wants and needs without their having to work for them, unless you count voting as a viable job.

Judeo-Christian Values have a foundational role in America,
beginning with the Declaration of Independence: "We hold
these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created
equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain
unalienable rights that among these are life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness..."
Since the pursuit of happiness, as Sigmund Freud surmised, is tied to human love and to creative work and play, the principles of American Judeo-Christian Values can rightly be summarized as the honoring of God-given Life, Liberty and Creativity. This seed of American Social Justice was then fleshed out in the U.S. Constitution through reason and common sense, unencumbered by the dysfunctional religious and secular traditions and laws of Old Europe.
Our Founding Fathers separated church from state, but they wisely did not separate God from state; they acknowledged God as the source of our rights, and, in fact, they were careful to place Biblical morality directly into our founding documents and laws, and into our values and culture precisely to help prevent a future of totalitarian or tyrannical rule in America. The combination of keeping Judeo-Christian religious morality in the state, as opposed to the church it's self; and, additionally, setting up our laws based on reason and common sense has contributed to the American Character, and to what is known as "American Exceptionalism."
Our Founding Fathers were religious in a new way, the Judeo-Christian way, and they were the liberals of their day by deducing that our political and human rights come from a power higher than human government; but they were conservative to Biblical morality. There was and still is a connection between God and Liberty; He is the author of it. It is ironic that American Conservatives are now the champion of this our most liberal founding principle; and also an irony that most American Conservatives are wholly unaware of their connection with the liberal founding ideas of this great republic. It is also an irony that many American Liberals have turned a blind eye to the required connection between God and Liberty. As Thomas Jefferson and John Adams noted, as you will see below, Liberty cannot survive among men without its Divine connection.
In Judeo-Christian America one finds the idea of equality before God and the law, but not government forced economic equality. Modern European culture has stressed the value of economic equality rather than Liberty, and their governments unjustly enforce the principle. This has led to the failed European inventions of Socialism and Communism. Socialists in America have been lured into this failed European idea of social justice. Socialism is a failure in that it unjustly suppresses human creativity by excessively taxing away its rewards, and by foolishly giving economic reward to many who, even though mentally and physically able, fail to honor their Divine privilege and duty to work creatively.
Thus, Socialism is a dual insult to God-given creativity. Communism was much worse in that it also dishonored the sacredness of human life and liberty. Communism was the inevitable result of separating not just church from state, but God from state. Communism dishonored God's gifts of Life, Liberty and Creativity. European cultures have historical ties to authoritarian and totalitarian systems dating back to the Roman Empire. Even European Christianity was, for a time, contaminated by its links to authoritarian rule.
American Judeo-Christian Culture, on the other hand, has been linked to honoring Life, Liberty and Creativity from the outset; deriving its wisdom from the lights of reason, common sense, and both the Hebrew Bible and New Testament Christian Bible. Thomas Jefferson and the great majority of our Founding Fathers explicitly put God into the national life of the United States, by putting the Creator into the Declaration of Independence. It is important that American Liberty has something to do with God; that is something for students to know and discuss, even if they are not particularly religious. This does not represent some form of tyranny of the religious majority or an injustice; it was in fact the wisdom of our Founding Fathers to stand in opposition to tyranny and injustice by acknowledging the source of our rights -- those rights originating from God rather than from King George III, or for that matter from the Soviet or Chinese Politburo, or a courthouse, or a legislature.
America is a melting pot of diverse people including Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and Atheists; and from the Judeo-Christian perspective, all are made in God's image. We have in America a multiethnic society, and that is good. What would be unhealthy for America would be for it to become Balkanized, something likely to happen with the atrophy of Judeo-Christian American Culture and Values. Worse yet would be for America to adopt the toxic values which exist in some parts of the world and which are endemic in some foreign cultures. The values of Fascism, Nazism, Communism or Totalitarian Islamic Sharia Law for example must never metastasize into our American Culture, rooted in Judeo-Christian values. These values have been with us from the beginning and they have made us strong and successful. These Judeo- Christian Values should be kept central to the American Spirit and Culture even as we have become more multi-ethnic.
Some of the words of our Founding Fathers will illustrate American Judeo-Christian Values and our separation of church and state, but not the separation of God from state, and provide grounding for our understanding of social justice.
Thomas Jefferson wrote:
"all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among them are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - that to secure these rights governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed ...."
He also wrote:
"God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God?" He also wrote: "Almighty God hath created the mind free. ... All attempts to influence it by temporal punishments or burthens...are a departure from the plan of the Holy Author of our religion..."
He also wrote:
"I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."
Our Founding Fathers wrote the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
President George Washington said this when proclaiming our National Thanksgiving Holiday:
"It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God ...."
John Adams wrote this:
"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
Later, Abraham Lincoln wrote these words about the Bible:
"In regard to this great book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to men. All the good Savior gave to the world was communicated through this book. But for it we could not know right from wrong."
He also spoke these words at the Gettysburg Address:
"...that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion - that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain - that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom - and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

The following are the Judeo-Christian Values embraced by the American Republic and People.
I am indebted to Dennis Prager who has listed Judeo-Christian Values and elaborated on this subject long before I took it up; and those who know his work will recognize many of his thoughts.
1. Our sense of right and wrong and our sense of wisdom come from the use of reason and common sense, but also, and importantly, from the Bible which, by faith was considered by our Founding Fathers to be God's inspired text; and not just from the mind or heart of man. This faith lead to the mottos: "In God We Trust" and "One Nation under God." Our Founding Fathers were believers in the God of the Bible, even if some were not orthodox Christians, and they put that faith into the Declaration of Independence, into our laws, into our national monuments, and into our culture. Faith is a part of American Culture, something Atheists, Secularists, Humanists and those of other religions should acknowledge and accept as historically accurate truth. To remove the results of Biblical Faith from America is to undo what the Founding Fathers have wrought.
2. Truth is Sacred; there can be no liberty or justice, and little happiness without it. Jesus connected truth and liberty when he said "the truth shall make you free." In the Book of Exodus of the Hebrew Bible God describes Himself: "The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering and abounding in goodness and truth..." In Deuteronomy God is described this way: "He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice." Listen to King David in Psalm 25: "Show me your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in Your truth..."; and in Psalm 51: "Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom."
3. Human life is the first gift of God, and it is of infinite value since man is made in the image of God. Judeo-Christian Values have lead to a culture of life in America, not a culture of death. Americans with Judeo-Christian Values will defend innocent God-given life.
4. Our Liberty is a gift from God and stated so in the Declaration of Independence. It is also stated in the New Testament Christian Bible: "Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty." Americans with Judeo-Christian Values will defend their God-given Liberty from tyranny and terror.
5. Human creativity is also a gift from God and is not to be unjustly suppressed by totalitarian, tyrannical or excessively taxing government. The work ethic is an important part of Judeo-Christian Values since honorable work is a reflection of God-given human creativity. Human reason is also a part of God-given human creativity, and it has led to scientific knowledge and technological progress. Reason and science are important aspects of Judeo-Christian Values. Human creativity is central to the pursuit of happiness, but does not guarantee it; totalitarian systems such as Communism or Islamic Sharia Law guarantee utopian happiness, but don't deliver it.
6. "Establish justice." This is commanded repeatedly in the Hebrew Bible. This is how it has been done in America: Honor Life, Liberty and Creativity. Liberty in practical terms means: Freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, no established or state-supported religion, right to bear arms and act in self-defense, uninterrupted elections and the division of powers into its three branches. Where our culture is now headed in the wrong direction, in my opinion, is to provide special rights for certain groups of people. Our Founding Fathers acknowledged these basic rights for all people, and our Civil War enforced it for the American slaves when they were denied their God-given Liberty.
7. "Hate Evil". This is commanded three times in the Hebrew Bible; this is from the book of Proverbs: "The fear of the Lord is to hate evil." Hear the Prophet Isaiah: "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness...." Americans with Judeo-Christian Values, as opposed to Europeans, still believe in the death penalty for pre-meditated murder, and America is still the nemesis of terrorists and tyrants - see the seal of the state of Virginia.
8. "Love your neighbor" - commanded in the Hebrew and Christian Bibles. "Love your enemy" - commanded in the New Testament Christian Bible. Generations of Americans, starting with our Founding Fathers, have had to square the values of "Hate Evil" with "Love your enemy." This has been done by hating the evil within the enemies of God-given Life and Liberty, but not hating the evil-doer him/herself.
9. In the Judeo-Christian Value System there is a natural and common-sense balance between compassion and courageous confrontation of evil. This can be seen metaphorically as a natural balance between femininity and masculinity; both good and necessary. The secular culture of Europe and of many in the United States today have unwisely suppressed the masculinity of Judeo-Christian American Culture, and this has put our society out of balance.
10. From Many, One: e pluribus unum. Ethnicity and race don't matter, but values do matter. We Americans should consider ourselves blessed to live under God-given Liberty in the same melting pot; and we are privileged to pursue happiness through creative work and play, unencumbered by excessive government. Those things that divide us, such as race or ethnicity, can be viewed metaphorically as our various styles; and are not very important. Those things of lesser importance should melt into what is very important and which should unite us: our value of Life, Liberty and Creativity - those rights defined by the Declaration of Independence, and rightly identified as the gifts of God.
11. The natural resources of the Earth, including the animals, along with the rest of creation should be honored and well cared for, but also used and enjoyed; and never worshiped.






I am retired military (U.S. Army), and I think that, except for bringing The United States of America into the community of nations, ending Slavery in the Americas, ending Fascism, Nazism & Communism in Europe, and ending the Japanese conquest of the Asian-Pacific basin, war and the threats of war have not solved mush in the last 250 years. Please don't get me wrong here, I am not pro-war and I am not anti-war, I am pro-active and pro-action. I’m well read, so I have to think that anyone who takes Noam Chomsky seriously must be one of those people who always hate America First, without thinking that there might be a real reason for our America first policies. I have a love of classical music both Asian and Western, I have a degree in environmental science and although I have never used it in the work force I still keep up with what is going on in the field. I work for the U.S. Government, as a subcontractor, where ever and when ever I'm needed. I love the Fareast, Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and parts of China. I have worked in the aviation field for over 30 years. I enjoy good conversations with intelligent people. I am a dichotomy of rational and irrational philosophies that at times drives me and I must admit some of my friends up a wall (I'm sorry for my friends) . It took me three decades before it dawned on me that my political opponents were every bit as Patriotic as I was. Sometimes a person gets so wrapped up in the issues that they lose sight of the bigger issue. That issue is, as Americans we are all in this together and together we shall stand or fall. It is up to each of us to decide what it will be. I was brought up in a military family. So we did not talk about ‘black’ Americans or ‘Mexican’ Americans. To my dad the Chief, they were just Americans. Rather then a Red State and Blue State dichotomy I was taught to see a Red White and Blue America. It’s true though there really are people in the world, even some Americans I’m sad to say, that hate America because of our freedoms. In most countries in the world even in Europe to criticize your government might bring you a visit from the police. We really are a blessed nation that we can stand in the public forum and complain about our government. Try that in; Russia, Iran, Burma, Syria, the list really is too long to enumerate. Duty, Honor, Country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying points: to build courage when courage seems to fail; to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith; to create hope when hope becomes forlorn. The unbelievers will say they are but words, but a slogan, but a flamboyant phrase. Every pedant, every demagogue, every cynic, every hypocrite, every troublemaker, and I am sorry to say, some others of an entirely different character, will try to downgrade them even to the extent of mockery and ridicule. The code which those words perpetuate embraces the highest moral laws and will stand the test of any ethics or philosophies ever promulgated for the uplift of mankind. Thomas Jefferson said religion was "a matter which lies solely between man and his God." Therefore, the citizens of this fledgling country Jefferson helped create would have the unparalleled freedom: To seek Truth and Knowledge without the leash of government telling them how to do it. The first Amendment states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion it does not state that Congress shall not respect religion. American fundamentalist beliefs are what made the American Republic. It was the Declaration of Independence that justified revolution by invoking "inalienable rights" given to Mankind by our Creator. When reading the Declaration of Independence, you can see the expression of a tradition of how society and government is structured. Jefferson and others did not discuss and formulate something people had to accept anew, but reflected established beliefs from the 150 years prior. The philosophers of the Enlightenment had everything to do with the way Americans lived at that time. Americans created their unique Tradition based on what had come before. They stood on their own feet, supported their own families and their own communities like the free Englishmen they were. Those who prospered helped those who did not. They educated all the children. They encouraged creative thinking, invention and entrepreneurial dream chasing. That tradition built the wealthiest, most productive and creative nation in the world, the only one based upon individual liberty and freedom. The Constitution is the foundation of American government and the process by which we make Federal law but it is not the foundation of American freedom and free thought. The Constitution was and is a way to control the population and run the Republic. I’m not saying that it is a bad thing; I’m just saying that, that is why it was made. America was and is a spectacular advancement for civilization, a religiously pluralist society was born that need not fear being tortured or executed for pursuing knowledge, science, or diverse philosophies. Yes a new age had dawned and it had dawned because of our Judeo-Christian religion not the lack of it. We should also never forget that if we had not been English Crown Colonies with English history and laws we might never have been. One should never forget that America was for all intense and purpose brought about by Christians and members of the Hebrew faith. There are Secular Progressives who will tell you that is a lie and that Christians are Taliban wannabes also a lie and that there are Christian hit squads out there being trained by followers of Pat Robertson or someone like him, or lies to that effect. Don’t you believe it, don’t you believe it for a second!

There are those who would tell us that Christianity and Christians had nothing to do with the making of America. They call those of us that believe our country was based on Christian concepts, Christian propagandist. These self same people would tell you that the most dangerous person alive today is a Christian or for that matter a Jew who really believes in God. There are hundreds of documents that reference our Judeo Christian values and our reverence for God as a nation, but the Atheists and non-believers love to quote just one governmental document, “The 1797 Treaty of Tripoli”, and specifically article XI, which is commonly misused in editorial columns, articles, as well as in other areas of the media, both Christian and secular. I have seen numerous reports from some very good people who have been misled by the claims that are being made, namely, that America was not founded as a Christian nation. Advocates of this idea use the Treaty of Tripoli as the foundation of their entire argument, and I believe you deserve to know the truth regarding this often misused document. There are those who think that this Treaty was a one page document and nothing could be further from the truth. They would have you believe that Washington signed the Treaty, also not true. The following is an excerpt from Author/Publisher David Barton's book Original Intent: “To determine whether the "Founding Fathers" were generally atheists, agnostics, and deists, one must first define those terms. An "atheist" is one who professes to believe that there is no God; an "agnostic" is one who professes that nothing can be known beyond what is visible and tangible; and a "deist" is one who believes in an impersonal God who is no longer involved with mankind. In other words, a "deist" embraces the "clockmaker theory" that there was a God who made the universe and wound it up like a clock; however, it now runs of its own volition; the clockmaker is gone and therefore does not respond to man. Today the terms "atheist," "agnostic," and "deist" have been used together so often that their meanings have almost become synonymous. In fact, many dictionaries list these words as synonym”. Those who advance the notion that this was the belief system of the Founders often publish information attempting to prove that the Founders were irreligious. One of the quotes they set forth is the following: The government of the United States is in no sense founded on the Christian religion. GEORGE WASHINGTON The 1797 Treaty of Tripoli is the source of Washington's supposed statement. Is this statement accurate? Did this prominent Founder truly repudiate religion? An answer will be found by an examination of its source. That treaty, one of several with Tripoli, was negotiated during the "Barbary Powers Conflict," which began shortly after the Revolutionary War and continued through the Presidencies of Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison. The Muslim Barbary Powers (Tunis, Morocco, Algiers, and Tripoli) were warring against what they claimed to be the "Christian" nations (England, France, Spain, Denmark, and the United States). In 1801, Tripoli even declared war against the United States, thus constituting America's first official war as an established independent nation. Throughout this long conflict, the four Barbary Powers regularly attacked undefended American merchant ships. Not only were their cargoes easy prey but the Barbary Powers were also capturing and enslaving "Christian" seamen in retaliation for what had been done to them by the "Christians" of previous centuries (e.g., the Crusades and Ferdinand and Isabella's expulsion of Muslims from Granada). In an attempt to secure a release of captured seamen and a guarantee of unmolested shipping in the Mediterranean, President Washington dispatched envoys to negotiate treaties with the Barbary nations. (Concurrently, he encouraged the construction of American naval warships to defend the shipping and confront the Barbary "pirates" a plan not seriously pursued until President John Adams created a separate Department of the Navy in 1798.) The American envoys negotiated numerous treaties of "Peace and Amity" with the Muslim Barbary nations to ensure "protection" of American commercial ships sailing in the Mediterranean. However, the terms of the treaty frequently were unfavorable to America, either requiring her to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars of "tribute" (i.e., official extortion) to each country to receive a "guarantee" of safety or to offer other "considerations" (e.g., providing a warship as a "gift" to Tripoli, a "gift" frigate to Algiers, paying $525,000 to ransom captured American seamen from Algiers, etc.). The 1797 treaty with Tripoli was one of the many treaties in which each country officially recognized the religion of the other in an attempt to prevent further escalation of a "Holy War" between Christians and Muslims. Consequently, Article XI of that treaty stated: As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Muslims and as the said States of America have never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mohammedan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries. This article may be read in two manners. It may, as its critics do, be concluded after the clause "Christian religion"; or it may be read in its entirety and concluded when the punctuation so indicates. But even if shortened and cut abruptly ("the government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion"), this is not an untrue statement since it is referring to the federal government. Recall that while the Founders themselves openly described America as a Christian nation (demonstrated in chapter 2 of Original Intent), they did include a constitutional prohibition against a federal establishment; religion was a matter left solely to the individual States. Therefore, if the article is read as a declaration that the federal government of the United States was not in any sense founded on the Christian religion, such a statement is not a repudiation of the fact that America was considered a Christian nation. Reading the clause of the treaty in its entirety also fails to weaken this fact. Article XI simply distinguished America from those historical strains of European Christianity which held an inherent hatred of Muslims; it simply assured the Muslims that the United States was not a Christian nation like those of previous centuries (with whose practices the Muslims were very familiar) and thus would not undertake a religious holy war against them. This latter reading is, in fact, supported by the attitude prevalent among numerous American leaders. The Christianity practiced in America was described by John Jay as "wise and virtuous,” by John Quincy Adams as "civilized,” and by John Adams as "rational." A clear distinction was drawn between American Christianity and that of Europe in earlier centuries. Would that more in both political parties would open up as you have. As we all know the President of the United States must be pro-active and willing to make those tough decisions that always pop up with no warning. Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

TERRORISM First off, Terrorism is the most important issue facing America besides the internal division of our nation by the forces of Liberalism, Secularism, and Socialism. Terrorism has taken the place of Communism and now the Democracies must defeat this new foe. We must secure our country. I do not believe that the next attack and believe me there will be one, will come from the air. But on the other hand if we need security teams with weapons on all planes over sovereign U.S. air space and coming into America then we do it. If a threat and I mean a serious threat from armed skyjackers were to come upon us again I would land all planes flying above U.S. Soil and divert aircraft coming into U.S. air space back to there origin. If they did not respond to the alert with 30 minutes and approached a major U.S. City I would order fighter planes to shoot the plane out of the sky. There are some that say this policy is harsh and I say yes it is, but I will not stand around and watch 3000 Americans be murdered again. The border would be closed for 2 days. Many have noted this would hurt our economy but I feel with quick maneuvering of our economic policies we would survive any economic downsides. Our citizens come before our economy, but without a thriving economy our citizens would be hurt, so we must strike a balance. I would order special operations troops to go after any organization that was suspected of doing the attacks and if need be order an invasion of any country that caused an attack on sovereign U.S. territory. We must send this battle to our enemies, their land, and their homes, not ours.


THE POLITICAL BENEFITS OF HAVING A COMMON LANGUAGE President Theodore Roosevelt once said, "We have one language here, and that is the English language, and we intend to see that the [assimilation] crucible turns our people out as Americans." Today America's linguistic unity, which enabled the melting-pot crucible to forge one nation out of millions of immigrants from all over the world, is under attack as never before. Record numbers of non-English speaking immigrants threaten to overwhelm the assimilative process. And instead of encouraging new immigrants to acquire the English fluency needed to succeed in our society, the policy of our government is to promote "diversity" by operating in ever growing numbers of foreign languages. This multilingualism is causing a growing underclass, which is segregated and walled off into linguistic ghettos. A century ago such immigrant ghettos were marked by extreme poverty, 80-hour workweeks and child labor. As the industrial revolution matured, immigrants discovered that language skills were the key to entering the emerging "middle class." This, coupled with mandatory public education and reduced immigration, resulted in the successful assimilation of ethnic communities into American society. But today, in segregated classrooms, so-called "bilingual education" keeps immigrant children from learning English, by teaching them in foreign languages. And millions of people cannot find good-paying jobs, because they lack the ability to speak English with customers, co-workers or employers. Alarmed by these developments, 30 states have enacted laws making English their official language; often by passing citizens initiatives with vote margins as high as 9-1. Opponents of making English the official language charge that it is "anti-immigrant," or that it is merely symbolic and therefore unnecessary. These charges are false. Learning to speak English empowers immigrants. By more than 2-1 immigrants themselves say the U.S. should expect new immigrants to learn English (1) and by a 9-1 margin Hispanic immigrants believe learning English is essential to succeed in the U.S. (2) Official English doesn't mean "English only." None of the 30 states with official English laws prohibit government agencies from using other languages when there is a compelling public interest for doing so. These include: protecting public health and safety, assuring equality before the law, promoting tourism, teaching foreign languages, providing for national defense, and many other legitimate, common sense needs. Having English as our official language simply means that for the government to act officially, it must communicate in English. It means the language of record is the English language, and that no one has a right to demand government services in any other language. Official English would also reinforce America's historic message to new immigrants - that we expect them to learn English as the first step in their assimilation -- and that we are committed to ensuring that all Americans share in the economic, social and political benefits of having a common language.


These two men arew free now and for that I'm happy and I wish them well, but this situation was a disgrace and will never happen if I'm the President.


I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to! America. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.



We speak English, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Judeo-Christian men and women on Judeo-Christian principles founded this nation and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If the Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his or her, opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so! But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other Great American Freedom. THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

How many of you have heard, “The way to decrease abortions is to educate teenagers on safe sex, educate people on options to abortion, and have higher funded social welfare programs.” I read this and started to think about the real facts of life within this nation. You have come this far with me, so why not follow a little bit more? The way to decrease abortion is to educate teenagers on safe sex. We all know that there is no such thing as 100% safe sex. We have been educating our children about safe sex now for about 30+ years and we have more fatherless children then before and we have over a million aborted children every year. So what have we taught our youth; it’s OK to have sex out of wedlock, Teenagers can have sex as long as it is protected. If you’re a female and you get pregnant don’t worry, you will never have to face up to responsibility because it’s your right to kill the child growing inside of you. Last but not least, if you decide to have the child you can see to it that the federal government takes up the roll of fatherhood and will take care of the child with all the “free” programs that they have to insure that the child can grow up in a nanny state with out a care in the world and with any luck produce another generation of Americans dependent upon the state to take care of them. In other words we now know that it’s good to have sex in high school, abortions on call and live off of the sweat of others. As far as I’m concerned that is one **** of a plan that our liberal intelligentsia came up with, but have no fear I’m sure that once the pendulum swings back, or should I say when, our liberal brethren will blame the Republicans for the past. While we are talking about it, lets talk about government paid abortions I have a tough time with this concept. If you want the government to pay for your abortion then the government should pay for one and one only. You will have the choice of having your tubes tied and then un-tied at a later day, at government expense. The government should not sponsor abortion as birth control. If you have had your one and declined to have your tubes tied, then the next ones you pay for or it can be picked up by an organization willing to support your right to get pregnant and then kill the child.


The anti-war, anti-military, anti-American, and totally unhinged liberal cut-and-run, defeat-retreat and surrender crowd with their negativity and defeatism fail to understand that Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. The very thought of losing is repugnant to Americans. It’s been 40 years since anti-war, anti-military and anti-American protestors trampled upon the hearts and spirits of America’s troops who served in Vietnam. The brave men and women of the United States military will not come home to an ungrateful nation this time. There will be no more spitting on our troops, no more harassing of our troops when they wear their military uniforms in public. We must have victory over tyranny, terrorism and fear. Brothers and sisters, the battle for hearts and minds here in America is just as important as the battle our troops are fighting half-a-world away, and it’s a battle we can’t afford to lose again.

STRONG NATIONAL DEFENSE I have at no time supposed that the men whose voices seemed to contain the threat of division amongst us are really uttering the sentiments even of those whom they pretended to represent. It would be a pity if we forget the fine things that our ancestors have done. But I also know the magic of America; I know the great principles which thrill men in the singular body politic to which we belong in the United States. I know the impulses of the past which have drawn people to our shores. They did not come idly; they did not come without conscious purpose to be free; they did not come without voluntary desire to unite themselves with the great nation on this side of the sea and boarder; I would hope that whenever the test comes every citizen’s heart will be first for America. It was principle, affection, ambition and hope that these men, women and children came to these shores, and they are not going to forget the errand upon which they came and allow America, the home of their refuge and hope, to suffer by any forgetfulness on their part. Men, groups and governments who seek to provoke us should remember the traditions of the people of United States and see that their actions will have consequences that will come back to haunt them and their families for years to come. I sometimes think that it is true that no group of people ever went to war with another group of people. Governments have gone to war with one another, but what we see now is an insidious group of people that owe allegiance to no nation and it would appear none to God. We are dealing with other governments now engaged in this great struggle against a barbarous enemy, and therefore we do not know what horror a day or an hour will bring forth. All that we know is the character of our own duty. We did want war, it came, as something that springs out of the night; and it is on that account that I would counsel the Congress of the United States not to take the advice of those who recommend that we should leave the people in Iraq to be slaughtered by the Al Qaeda inspired groups. Our Army, contrary, to what the left may think is helping the citizens of that country so that after they are trained sufficiently they can take up arms and defend themselves.



The Constitution of the United States makes the President the Commander in Chief of the Army, Air Force and Navy of this Nation, but I do not want an overly large Army subject to my personal command. If danger comes, I want to turn to you and the rest of my fellow-countrymen and say, "people, are you ready?" and I know what the response will be. I know that there will spring up out of the body of the Nation a great host of free citizens, and I want those men and women not to be mere targets for shot and shell. I want them to know something of the arms they have in their hands. I want them to know something about how to guard against the diseases that creep into the training camps, where young men and women are unaccustomed to live. I want them to know something of what the orders mean that they will be under when they enlist under arms for the Government of the United States. I want them to be men and women who can comprehend easily and intelligently those steps needed for our national defense. The United States must have the trained manpower, proper war fighting equipment, prepared facilities, unparalleled intelligence gathering capability and the strong, dedicated will of the people topped off with America First Leadership in the Executive and Legislative branches of our government, if our nation is to survive the existing global terrorist war. We must defend our shores and our people against an enemy, whose pursuit of their goals is achieved by use of suicide bombers, including women, boys and girls. They have declared their goal to be the destruction of the United States and they are working methodically toward that goal. In light of this, it defies all reason and logic why the Bush, Clinton, Bush Administrations, and a Legislative branch that has been equally complicit by its failure to exercise its Congressional oversight powers, have consciously allowed 12 to 20 million illegal aliens to invade our country and colonize our towns and cities. How many of these illegal aliens might be terrorists no one knows. Are you willing to wait until terrorists cause more death and destruction before we take the necessary action to protect our nation and secure our borders? It is essential to exercise vigilance worldwide through effective intelligence operations and military preparedness that is second to none to protect against those who mean us harm and will use terrorism to accomplish their ends. Likewise, with knowledge of those who have trained, equipped, funded and have a history of supporting terrorism on a worldwide basis, it is irresponsible for our government not to take every possible measure to protect our borders from invasion from such an enemy. The fact is, however, that while the both the Bush Administration and Congress have been quick to pass measures which seriously impede the Constitutional rights of law abiding American citizens, they have been unwilling to lift a finger to impede the access of terrorists to our nation across unsecured borders. Without question, the foremost duty of the United States is to provide a strong national defense to protect its citizens from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Our Air Force and Navy must be so strong that no aggressor, whether terrorist or otherwise, could ever believe they would survive an attack by our forces. Our Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines must be kept strong, well equipped and prepared to deal with any threat to our nation. Having a military which is second to none in strength and preparedness for the defense of our nation, there should be, with few exceptions, no need for the boots of our military on foreign soil.

GUN CONTROL Answer NO, No new laws; what we have on the books will work. I trust no government office when it comes to my right to own and carry a weapon. For me the second Amendment is the third rail that every one wants to talk about at election time. A free and armed society will stay free. The day that our government tries to take away our arms is the day that a new and armed political movement will start. I hope and pray that, that day never comes. Our forefathers put the Second Amendment there,right behind the first Amendment (Free Speech) for a reason. Gun Control has nothing to do with controlling guns and everything to do with controlling you. As a citizen of this great nation you should never forget that. If someone wants to keep a gun in the home, he or she has a right to do so with out fear at this time, but who knows what evils lurk in the halls of power in Washington DC, or what foolish plan some gun control nut might come up with next week. Nevertheless, after all that I have said, the government should be keeping track of hand guns.


FOUR GENERATIONS WITH SERVICE TO OUR NATION


FALSE ORTHODOXIES OF NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND NCLB promotes a sense that turning around student performance is a simple matter of getting all teachers to use proven models. NCLB advances a standardization of learning and schooling (in contrast to choice offered elsewhere) that implies that teaching students to perform is something like cooking hamburgers. Education being a complex and organic human experience, there are few certainties and few recipes that can be counted upon to deliver results. If a student is having difficulty learning to read, for example, an effective teacher may run through a dozen or more different strategies and combinations of strategies to change the learning pattern, Altering patterns of failure and frustration is not a simple, straightforward or highly scientific process. The insistence upon a particular approach to reading or any other learning area is dangerous because it deskills teachers, ignores decades of craft knowledge and places undue reliance upon formulas and templates. Scripting teachers to teach in particular ways with a limited repertoire would act to weaken rather than strengthen the prospects of this generation of students. Even though some companies and some experts claim that they know the best strategies and have combined them into nice packages that all teachers can use comfortably and successfully, no such package has ever withstood the test of time. The silver bullets of the 1970s that were heralded as "best practice" did not work the miracles their promoters had promised. And so it is with silver bullets of each decade. Despite assurances to the contrary, NCLB is a radical shift in the very structure of education that is more about privatization than improvement. Many of the promised improvements are poorly grounded in the very scientific data that is now so fashionable to reference. I see very little evidence to justify the scale of this change effort and the very timing of the provisions seems directed by an effort to win votes rather than help children and schools to improve. While the grass may seem greener on the other side of the fence, parents and children will often learn that it is hard work to conquer reading problems no matter what school you attend. There is no good reason to rush some of the early provisions of this new system other than political motivation to score points with constituencies who have become frustrated with their local schools. Playing to those frustrations may make good politics, but it does not necessarily improve the long term prospects of children or schools. I'm sorry, but it is time for this program to go the way of the Great Auk.





ENERGY INDEPENDENCE Big oil corporations, big business and multinational corporations have held America hostage to foreign oil dependence for far too long, say many of our fellow countrymen these days! Well part of what they have said appears to be true on first look. Look at the billions of dollars that leave this country every year to import oil. OK then lets open up our own oil wells that we have right here in the States and around the coastal plain. Then that money will stay here. Take a look at the profits these corporations reap every year for being the middle man bringing the oil from the well to the final stage where it is gas pumped into your automobile. There are those who will tell you that they make to much profit on this oil, but do they? What is their profit margin on one gallon of fuel. Think also about the gas prices the American consumer is forced to pay and the hardship that it places on the lives of average Americans. Gas costs about $1.76 per Gal. and the actual petroleum company profit from that sale is about $0.14 to $0.15 the rest is from marketing, shipping, production, sales and yes $0.38 for Federal taxes and this does not count State taxes. What is the reason? An insane national energy policy could be! There are those who say that it need not be this way. Brazil, as an example, is totally energy self sufficient and has been for years. They accomplished this as a result of the development of sugar cane alcohol. Every new car manufactured in Brazil is fully capable of running on 100% alcohol, 100% gasoline or a mixture of both. Propane powered vehicles are also available. Why hasn't the United States, the most technologically advanced nation on earth, accomplished the energy independence enjoyed in Brazil? We have abundant oil resources in Alaska, the Gulf of Mexico and off our shores that remain untapped. We must remove unreasonable, excessive regulations on exploration, drilling and refining of oil in this country. We also have abundant coal, enough for 700 years, even at high usage rates. We have the advanced technology to develop nuclear energy as well as alternative energy resources such as ethanol from plants, wind, solar and high capacity storage batteries. With all of our resources and technology we are decades behind in attaining energy independence. This must change now! Energy is vital to our economy our standard of living our way of life our very freedom our children's future and our national security. Beginning as far back in history as Jamestown, Plymouth Colony and Bunker Hill, veterans and all people in this country have worked to provide a secure and free place for industry to exist and prosper. It is now time that industry develops a national strategy, much like the effort to place a man on the moon in the 60's that will put this nation on track for energy independence within five years. It can be done.

MINIMUM WAGE 101 Now shut up take a seat and be quiet because you will be paying for this class sooner rather then later. Effective July 24, 2009, the federal minimum wage increased to $7.25 an hour; why didn't they make it $15 an hour? Because it would ruin our economy and those in Washington all knew it. What is all the fuss about anyway? If you are just starting out and have no skills other than "Would you like to supper size that order", what makes you think you should be earning enough to raise a family. Every time we buy a burger or get a gallon of gas and a Buz cola at your local Kwik-E-Mart you are paying for the products plus the cost of wages. If the minimum wage goes up, so do the prices of the gas. If the prices go up then your minimum wage needs to go up. It never ends. If you want to earn more money, get a skill. It's called capitalism and growing up. If you could earn enough to raise a family working at the local IN & Out, why would anyone bother getting an education in the first place? This is America for G*d sake, you should earn what your worth and be worth what you earn. Learn to be a scientist and help us solve this "climate change" thing. You need to thank Ray for this one.



IMMIGRATION Now lets understand something if I'm the leader of the greatest Nation on Earth I would try to do four things first in regards to Immigration: 1. I would ask Congress for and would sign legislation limiting the number of immigrants from all countries to 1% of our national population or a number equal to the number of abortions during the last fiscal year. 2. I would impose penalties on businesses employing illegal immigrants. I feel the right to be employed in our country is a right strictly reserved to legalized citizens of the United States. 3. I would ask Congress for and would sign legislation denying automatic citizenship to children born in the United States of illegal immigrants, until the child is of legal age (18) and whishes to become a citizen. This would put us legally in line with most of the western world. 4. I would introduced new legislation to close the gaping hole in our national security created by so-called "sanctuary cities." These are cities where officials have foolishly decided to forbid their local law enforcement from inquiring about the immigration status of individuals they arrest and from reporting those here illegally to federal officials. The Amendment will not require local police to use their own resources to enforce the federal laws or to conduct immigration raids. It simply requires them to share information on the immigration status of suspects here illegally in order to help keep all of us safer. The really hard part of this legislation and the part that would give it teeth, is that any city that decides that it is above the law of the land will lose all federal funding for any and all projects that are on going or planned. This would include, but not be limited to public schools and universities, transportation, law enforcement and municipal government agencies. If cities, towns and other incorporated districts wish to think that they have a right to secede from this Republic, I'm here to tell them that this battle has already been fought and the Federal Government won.

These images are the sort that federal courts have increasingly ruled "unconstitutional" for decades. If the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) or some other plaintiff decides to sue to remove any or all of these images, what would be the result? If the courts are consistent, these images and countless more like them, could be removed by the judicial elite hostile to all forms of religious expression in public.
