Run Your Campaign

The effective U4prez candidates for President don't just stop at creating a platform. This approach has worked in the past, but only to a point. A good candidate will comment on other candidates' profiles, enter in to debate on specific issues, and update his platform as political conditions dictate.

The 2008 campaign

The winner of the 2008 campaign will be determined by an entirely automated process and algorithm. To win you will now have to rate well, and score well on Candidate Rank. Candidate Rank is an algorithm written to determine how well you would perform in a real election. Many factors are taken in to consideration, including, how often you comment or debate, how unique the nature of your comments are, how many visits you generate to your platform, and the number of votes you have recieved. (Even a rating of 1, helps your overall score)..

Promoting your campaign

The easiest way to promote your campaign is to comment on the platform of other candidates. This will encourage them to visit your platform..

FAQ and Support

Frequently asked questions.

How do I start my campaign for president on U4prez??
The first step is to register. You will pick a username, a party (Republican, Democrat or Independent. Do not select FEC categories. These are for the nationally recognized candidates that register with the Federal Election Commission.
You can register here.

What if I just want to comment but do not wish to run?

You must still register. You do not have to build a platform.

Do I have to register to vote?
Yes..

What do I put in my platform?
Ideally you want to address as many issues as possible. If you know some basic .html you can create links within your profile to navigate your platform more easily.

Can I vote for myself?
Yes, but beware! The press constantly monitors voting status. If you vote for yourself to often, while running down the votes of candidates around you, you run the risk of having your rating reset.

What do I win?
A press release through PRnewsire to nationwide major media outlets, and a corresponding web advertising campaign announcing your win. The press release will announce the win, include specific parts of your platform, and your responses to interview questions. You must provide a picture of yourself on your profile to be eligible for the prizes. That picture will become the property of Best and Brightest inc. and U4prez.com to use for advertising and promotion purposes.

What should I say in my platform?
You should try to develop positions on most of the current issues surrounding national politics. At the same time you may wish to address certain regions of the country to garner support at the local level. Remember politics is a tough game. You will be asked questions about the positions on your platform, and questions about things you may have omitted. You should have positions on global warming, campaign finance reform, abortion, gun control, immigration reform and other top issues.

Someone keeps voting me a 1, what should do about it?
Getting a vote of 1 is better than no vote at all. Controversial candidates will recieve many votes of 1 from those that do not agree with the platform. Your rank in the primaries and runoffs is a mix of votes, and ratings. The delay between votes is very long so one or two people voting negatively every day won't have much of an impact on your bottom line score.

I've forgotten my password or user name:

There is a forgot password button at the top of the menu on the right side..

I can't see my picture on the profile/ platform page..
You must set the picture that you want displayed with your platform as the default.

Someone is badgering me, or I don't wish to talk to one of the other candidates.

When i try to vote for someone it says you have already voted for this candidate.
You may only vote for a candidate once in a set period of time. The period of time ranges from 1 day to 3 days, to help limit candidates from using bots to vote.

My picture is black.
This is usually the result of trying to upload an animated gif file. Try using a standard .gif, .jpg. or other non-animated image and see if it fixes the problem. You can only use animated gifs in the body of your profile.

I've had it! How do I delete my account?
Politics isn't for everyone, and U4prez.com in many ways mirrors very closely actual political debate. It can get frustrating. While it's impossible to delete your entire account, you can remove all of your pictures to make your account invisible to those browsing profiles. A quick warning. Often candidates become frustrated and remove all of the information from their profiles, and then decide to jump back in to the race. If you've deleted all of the information, you will have to recreate it.
